Opening montage.

Prior to the first match, we revisit the saga between Black Bart and “Wild” Bill Irwin.

Match 1: Black Bart versus “Wild” Bill Irwin

Highlights:

  • This match might have occurred in Fort Worth on 4/10 yet was joined in progress.
  • When Bart gave Irwin a cross corner whip, he ate boot on his follow-through.
  • Irwin silenced Bart with a bicycle kick, but “Hollywood” John Tatum and Jack Victory stormed the ring.
  • As the Texas tag champs attacked Irwin, referee Bronko Lubich called for the bell.
  • Irwin won by DQ at 0:33 shown.

Rating: NONE

Summary: More angle than match as Black Bart promised bad things if Irwin didn’t join him.

After the match, the heels triple-team Irwin before the segment abruptly ends.

Match 2: Black Bart versus Phillip Wylie

Highlights:

  • If any other wrestler resembled a bear, it’d be Black Bart.
  • Bart clotheslined Wylie and guillotined him with the top rope.
  • As he suplexed Wylie, Bart flattened him with another clothesline.
  • He landed a leg drop and pinned Wylie at 3:48.

Rating: DUD

Summary: Showcase match for Bart.

Backstage, Taylor cuts a promo on Adams, and they will battle TONIGHT.

We return to Fort Worth for the next match.

Match 3: Michael “P.S.” Hayes & Steve Simpson versus “Iceman” King Parsons & Angel of Death

Highlights:

  • This match was joined in progress as Hayes tagged in.
  • With all four wrestlers in the ring, Hayes and Steve rammed the heels together.
  • Hayes bulldogged Parsons while Steve mounted the second turnbuckle.
  • When Steve attempted a flying splash, he ate knees.
  • Parsons disposed of Steve and double-teamed Hayes in the ring.
  • As referee Bronko Lubich inexplicably called for the bell, the patented Freebird hair cream gets involved.
  • Parsons tried to turn him bald, but Hayes escaped.
  • In the meantime, Angel of Death didn’t have to worry about shaving his chest any longer, ‘cuz he got the worst of it.
  • Hayes and Steve won by DQ at 1:02 shown.

Rating: NONE

Summary: Attempt #2 to remove Hayes’ glorious mane has been thwarted.

Match 4 (non-title): WCWA World champion “Iceman” King Parsons versus Jim Richardson

Highlights:

  • As Parsons was introduced, a smattering of “bull-shit” chants was overheard from the Dallas faithful.
  • Parsons initiated a shoving contest but lost because Richardson shoved him through the ropes onto Pulley’s table.
  • When he returned to the ring, Parsons headbutted Richardson.
  • He dealt Richardson a knee lift and pranced like he just won the Powerball.
  • After he slammed Richardson, Parsons mounted the second turnbuckle and launched a head butt at his upright opponent.
  • He picked up Richardson at 1, suplexed him, floated over, and picked him up at 2. Nefarious!
  • While Richardson ducked a clothesline, he couldn’t escape a lariat.
  • Parsons demolished Richardson with a butt butt and pinned him at 4:36.

Rating: **

Summary: Showcase match for the World champion.

Backstage, Adams cuts a promo on Taylor providing evidence of Taylor’s devastation.

We return to Fort Worth for the next match.

Match 5 for the WCWA Texas title: Terry Taylor (champion) versus “Gentleman” Chris Adams

Highlights:

  • This match was joined in progress with Adams wearing a catcher’s mask.
  • When Adams headbutted him with the mask, Taylor hightailed it from the ring.
  • Adams joined and bounced him twice face-first off Rinelli’s table.
  • Back in the ring, Adams unloaded a ten-punch count-along.
  • Following a clip, Taylor successfully removed the catcher’s mask, and Adams’ face is all bandaged and bruised.
  • Taylor rubbed Adams’ battered face into the mat before Adams retaliated with a mask shot.
  • After referee Bronko Lubich called for the bell, Taylor won by DQ at 2:48 shown.

Rating: NONE

Summary: Another evil entry in the ongoing Taylor-Adams feud.

Following the match, Taylor scampered back to the locker room with Adams in close pursuit.

We revisit last week when Tatum and Victory stole the Texas tag titles from the Simpson brothers.

Match 6: Kevin Von Erich & Michael “P.S.” Hayes versus “Kiler” Tim Brooks & the Hood

Highlights:

  • Where did they dig up these heels? It’s been forever and a day since we’ve seen these hooligans.
  • As Brooks hooked a wrist lock, Kevin escaped via dropkick.
  • Hayes tagged in and dealt Brooks a back elbow.
  • When tags were exchanged on both sides, the Dallas faithful chanted “go, Kevin, go.”
  • Kevin withstood a pair of shoulder blocks yet outsmarted Hood on a third attempt sending him reeling between the ropes to the floor.
  • After Kevin sent Brooks atop Pulley’s table, Hayes took turns feeding the heels knuckle sandwiches.
  • Nevertheless, Lowrance offered a shout-out to George Scott since Gary Hart was longer employed by WCCW. Sneaky but also clever!
  • While Kevin escaped a test-of-strength, he unloaded knees to the face followed by a standing dropkick to Hood.
  • Brooks intervened, but Kevin conducted a meeting of the minds.
  • Tagging in, Hayes tried to reveal the menacing face of Jeff Gaylord to no avail.
  • Brooks tagged in and clotheslined Hayes.
  • Landing a leg drop, Brooks got 2, brother.
  • Kevin tagged in, gave Brooks a cross corner whip, and applied an Iron claw.
  • Upon intervention by Hood, all four wrestlers were in the ring.
  • Stereo powerslams by the babyfaces led to Kevin’s mounting of the top rope.
  • Soaring with a cross body block, Kevin pinned Hood at 7:59.

Rating: ***

Summary: Exciting main event where despite the obvious result, the story within was well-told.

Conclusion: Lots to unpack, but essentially this was a one-match episode on top of the hair cream making an astonishing comeback.

Most of the matches were either highlights from Ft. Worth or squash matches prior to the main event. Having said that, the main event was rather exciting. Hayes knows how to pump up a crowd while Kevin delivers his special brand of Texas justice.

Next week, Hayes alongside Kerry and Steve square off against Parsons, Gordy, & Roberts!
