Can Irwin put a whippin’ on Adias? Plus, Kerry! The Freebirds! A long-awaited FRITZ VON ERICH UPDATE! Perez! Oh, and the Simpsons are here too!
Opening montage.
To begin, we revisit the 1/23 episode when the Simpson trio defeated “Playboy” Vince Apollo, Cowboy Tony, and the Hood.
Next, we head to Reunion Arena for a match from the Christmas show…
Match 1: Brian Adias versus “Wild” Bill Irwin
Highlights:
- This match was joined in progress.
- When he clotheslined Irwin, Adias got 2.
- He planted a knee into the midsection for another 2.
- As he landed a knee drop, Adias couldn’t get 3.
- Irwin rebounded with a sidewalk slam and got 2.
- After Irwin missed a running knee drop, he unloaded a bicycle kick knocking Adias out of the ring.
- Irwin leaped from the broadcast table and dealt Adias an axe handle.
- While he attempted to ram him, Adias turned the tables and made Irwin HIT THE POLE.
- Adias almost committed assault with a deadly weapon, but Irwin ducked the chair shot.
- In turn, Adias WHACKED the ring post with the chair.
- The bell rang, and referee Bronko Lubich ruled the bout a double countout at 6:18 shown.
- BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Rating: **
Summary: Acceptable mid-card match with an unacceptable outcome.
After the match, Adias keeps him at bay with a chair until Irwin grabs his whip. Adias hightails it to a roar from the Dallas faithful.
Next, we revisit the 1/30 episode when the Von Erichs gave the Freebirds some comeuppance for their shenanigans on Christmas night. Afterward, we revisit last week’s penalty box match where Kerry won the match, but the Freebirds ensured he didn’t forget this one.
Backstage, Lowrance interviews Kerry who provides us with a FRITZ VON ERICH UPDATE. Fritz is “doing fine…a lot better…and will come back.” Kerry wishes to become World champion once again and won’t let the fans down.
For the second time tonight, we head to Reunion Arena for a match from the Christmas show. We revisit the World title match between champion Perez and challenger Kerry where Hart’s interference directly led to Perez’s title retention.
Conclusion: Um, folks…
Yes, it’s (mostly) a good old-fashioned clip show.
Like me, you must be so frustrated that WCCW must produce a high-quality episode to make up for this.
Next week, Kerry and Kevin battle Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts in a Badstreet match!
TV Rating: NONE
