Opening montage.

Match 1 (non-title): WCWA World Light Heavyweight champion Eric Embry versus Chico Cabella

Highlights:

  • Lowrance shilled the Von Erich Family Album. Get your copy by sending a SASE to P.O. Box 57589 Dallas, TX 75207.
  • When Cabella attempted a sunset flip, Embry fed him a knuckle sandwich.
  • He suplexed Cabella and landed a diving head butt for 1 before pulling him up.
  • As Cabella gave Embry a cross corner whip, he ate boot on his follow-through.
  • Embry countered a back drop attempt with a knee lift and piledrove Cabella into a pile of goo.
  • 1-2-3.
  • Embry won at 3:33.

Rating: DUD

Summary: Showcase match for Embry who lately resembles someone who enjoys copious amounts of Texas brisket.

After the match, ring announcer Ralph Pulley interviews Embry who cuts a promo on Shaun Simpson.

Match 2: “Killer” Tim Brooks & the Thing (w/ Percy Pringle) versus Rick Hazzard & Terry Hayes

Highlights:

  • Thing fed Hazzard a back elbow, but Hayes tagged in.
  • As Thing slammed Hayes, Brooks tagged in and slammed him again.
  • Thing tagged in, and the babyfaces tried to double-team him.
  • When that failed, Thing made Hazzard HIT THE POLE.
  • He blasted Hazzard with a steel chair, re-entered the ring, hoisted Hayes atop the top turnbuckle, joined, and connected with a superplex.
  • After a diving head butt, Thing applied a claw to Hayes’ midsection.
  • Hayes submitted; thus, Thing and Brooks won at 2:48.

Rating: *

Summary: Showcase match for Thing who caused sheer mayhem.

Following the match, Brooks restrains Thing while Pringle and Vince Apollo step into the ring. Nothing has been settled as to who will purchase the rights to Thing.

Match 3 (non-title): WCWA Texas champion “Maniac” Matt Borne versus Super Pole

Highlights:

  • Upon further review, I have NO IDEA who Super Pole is; although, he’s a tall guy over 300 pounds.
  • Wait a minute! When did Borne win the Texas title?
  • According to my research, he won the belt on 11/10 in Midland, TX.
  • Pole gave him a cross corner whip, but Borne exploded with a lariat.
  • When Borne dropkicked Pole, Steve Simpson joined the broadcast table for this match.
  • Borne landed an elbow drop and suplexed Pole.
  • As he scored with a knee drop, Borne pinned Pole at 1:28.

Rating: ½*

Summary: Rather lame showcase match for Borne.

Afterward, Pulley interviews Borne in the ring, and Borne cuts a brief but jingoistic promo on Iron Sheik.

In split-screen, Gary Hart and Percy Pringle have a verbal spat about the rights to Thing. The battle for the contract for Thing is heating up!

Match 4 for the WCWA World title: Al Perez (champion w/ Vince Apollo) versus “Gentleman” Chris Adams

Highlights:

  • Hart joined the broadcast table for this match. I’m certain he’ll be completely objective.
  • As he took Perez down with a fireman’s carry, Adams landed a knee drop.
  • The Dallas faithful chanted “go, Chris, go,” and their hero gave Perez a cross corner whip.
  • When Adams ate boot on his follow-through, Perez gave him a cross corner whip.
  • Perez came up empty on his follow-through, so Adams applied a cross arm breaker.
  • After he rammed Perez shoulder-first into the top turnbuckle, Adams charged to no avail.
  • Adams nevertheless slammed Perez but missed an elbow drop.
  • While Perez reversed a cross corner whip, he followed with a shoulder block.
  • Following a commercial break, Perez attempted to pin Adams with both feet on the second rope, but referee John Keaton disallowed it.
  • Perez hooked a rope-assisted arm bar until Keaton halted the chicanery.
  • Rebounding with a back drop, Adams gave Perez another cross corner whip followed by a shot to the midsection.
  • He connected with a running knee drop and got 2.
  • Hooking a backslide, Adams got another 2.
  • He tied Perez up in the ropes and hammered him repeatedly.
  • Charging the seemingly prone Perez, Adams attempted a cross body block, but Perez barely dodged him.
  • Perez attempted a stepover toe hold, but Adams kicked him away.
  • Grabbing Adams by the leg, Perez fell victim to an enziguri.
  • Adams attempted a superkick but obliterated Keaton instead of Perez.
  • Jumping into the ring, Apollo ate a superkick from Adams.
  • Perez dumped Adams to the floor, and Bronko Lubich assumed officiating duties.
  • Re-entering the ring via sunset flip, Adams pinned Perez at 13:14 shown.
  • WE HAVE A NEW CHAMPION!

Rating: ***

Summary: THIS is the type of main event the WCWA should be showcasing as these two combatants assembled a solid match that electrified the Sportatorium.

After the match, Keaton returns to the ring and raises Perez’s arm. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Apollo grabs Adams so that Perez can flatten him with a lariat. Ultimately, Pulley announces that Keaton has disqualified Adams for “kicking him out of the ring;” therefore, Perez retains.

Since the episode has leftover time, the final two minutes of the main event are shown sans commentary.

Conclusion: Why can’t we have good things? For all intents and purposes, Adams deserved to win the World title here, yet Fritz kept running the Dusty Finish into the ground. Nonetheless, it was a great match that must be sought out. The rest of the episode was filler with the Thanksgiving show on the horizon.

Next week, Kerry’s comeback from the Thanksgiving show at Reunion Arena!
